Discussion of NRCC to build a sustainable ecosystem in Nepal

Nepal Research Collaboration Center (NRCC) has discussed building a sustainable research ecosystem in Nepal. NRCC recently organized a program on 'Building a Sustainable Research Ecosystem in Nepal: Digital Tools, Collaboration and Policy' in Kathmandu and held an interactive discussion on the subject.

Minendra Rizal, Secretary of Nepal Science and Technology Academy Ravindra Prasad, President of Novala Biotech and Research and Development Manager Sunita Gautam, Engineer of Robotics Association of Nepal Bikas Gurung and Chief Executive Officer of Disneyp Bhaskar Bhat were present in the discussion. In the discussion, the speakers discussed the challenges and opportunities of Nepal's research .

Rizal stressed that research should be focused at the local level in the discussion. Similarly, Secretary Dhakal said that although there are modern laboratories in Nepal, there is a lack of skilled researchers.

In the same discussion, Gautam said that there is a lack of research in the production of anti-snake-bite drugs in Nepal and the situation of depending on India for this should be ended .

Engineer Gurung suggested that a culture of research should be developed from the school level, while Bhat said that although AI technology will increase productivity, it will bring new challenges regarding intellectual property rights.
