Britain's Crown Princess Sophie, who is visiting Nepal, visited Kirtipur Eye Hospital in Kirtipur on Wednesday and met with the clients. Kirtipur Eye Hospital run by Nepal Eye Jyoti Association has been providing services since 2074.

The hospital has been conducting free cataract surgery camps in the high mountain areas of Nepal with the support of the British development partner organization Ridley Eye Foundation.

Princess Sophie is the 'Global Ambassador' of 'The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB)'. Active in the campaign to prevent blindness that can be cured after treatment from around the world, she has been working globally in the development and expansion of the field of eye health . "IAPB" is a common umbrella organization of associations/organizations working in the field of eye health in the world . 

Nepal's progress in the field of eye health  Appreciating her, she suggested that Nepal should also strengthen eye treatment services in its primary health system in the future. The association is providing eye treatment services in Nepal through its network and thousands of eye patients are receiving free eye treatment through the association's network annually.

The president of the association Chetraj Pant said that Princess Sophie was very impressed by the information that the trachoma disease, which is a public health problem in Nepal, has been solved. He thanked Princess Sophie for visiting Kirtipur Eye Hospital during her visit to Nepal. Eric Vaidya briefed Princess Sophie about the hospital's services.

Association has already established its permanent eye treatment center in 67 districts of Nepal. Since its establishment till now, through the network of the association, a total of 436 million 26 eye patients including Nepali citizens and citizens of other countries have been treated and 5133 thousand 659 people have undergone eye surgery.

At present, 28 eye hospitals, 160 eye treatment centers and 44 district branches are operating across the country under the association. Prince Edward Duke of Edinburgh and Princess Sophie of the United Kingdom visited Nepal on Tuesday.
