Kathmandu Metropolitan City has organized a memorial meeting on the occasion of 'Martyr's Day'. The metropolis has been celebrating Martyrs Week every year from 10th to 16th of January.

At the same time, the metropolis has organized a memorial meeting in memory of the martyrs on the last day of Martyrs' Week on Wednesday. The meeting was held in memory of known and unknown martyrs at Shaheed Park in Lanchaur, Kathmandu.

On that occasion, Sunita Dangol, the deputy head of the metropolis, said that the political, economic, social, cultural transformation and inclusive democracy of the Nepali society obtained from the martyrs should have a common opinion at the leadership level.

"Now we are experiencing the situation that was achieved after martyrs sacrificed their lives for the sake of the end of the Hukumi regime, the freedom and independence of the people," she said.

Since the year 2012, the committee formed under the coordination of the existing metropolis has been organizing Martyr Week events. This year, on January 10th, Shukraraj Shastri was martyred at Teku Machali, on January 13th, at Siphal Ukalo, the place where devotee Mathema was executed, and on January 15th, at Shobha Bhagwati, on the bank of Bishnumati river, wreaths were laid at the memorial of the immortal martyrs.
