In Kathmandu Metropolitan City, cooperative savers have submitted an application claiming a demand equal to 4 billion 49 million 45 lakh rupees. 6 thousand 266 savers have submitted an application to the co-operative department of the metropolis to return the savings amount from the co-operative organization.

It is said that the savers of 118 cooperatives sent to the police for investigation and action by the Metropolitan Municipality claimed the demand.

There are 1 thousand 917 cooperative organizations with metropolitan area. Of these, 1,744 organizations have been registered in the Cooperative and Poverty Management Information System (COPOMIS). But the number of those who submitted the annual report is only 838, the metropolis informed.

The Government of Nepal decided on the 1st of July 2074 regarding the transfer of the then Divisional Cooperative Office to the local level. According to that, the work being done by the Division Cooperative since 1st July 2075 was transferred to the metropolis. Before the handover, the metropolis had issued the Cooperative Act in 2074.
