The Nepal Volunteer Blood Donor Society has requested the government to provide free blood.

The society submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakashman Singh on Tuesday and demanded to provide free blood. Chairman and volunteer blood donor Premsagar Karmacharya informed that the society submitted a memorandum to Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakashman Singh for free blood and blood components.

'Despite the state's policy of providing/distributing/distributing human blood and blood components prepared from blood free of charge, due to the current situation of charging an unnecessary amount as test fee, the poor patients are facing a huge financial burden,' the statement reads. This society is taking the initiative to start free blood distribution with the participation of locals and coordination between the local government to reduce such situation.'

Also, it has been requested to announce the annual National Volunteer Blood Donor Day on January 15. Treasurer Pramila Lama and central members Sushil Gharti Chhetri and Bimal Intrakoti were also present while submitting the memorandum.
