District Police Complex Kathmandu has arrested two people who operated online betting based on the final match of Nepal Premier League.
The arrested have been identified as 47-year-old Haris Jawa and 38-year-old Rishi Matan, who are currently residing in Tokha, Agra Sikandra Panchayat, Uttar Pradesh, India. On Sunday, they reached the place where they were staying and were taken into custody.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP) and Spokesman Navraj Adhikari of District Police Complex Kathmandu, they have been arrested with the equipment used to conduct online betting. From them Five mobiles, one laptop, eight SIM cards of Ncell along with Jawa's Indian passport and Aadhaar card, Makan's Aadhaar card and voting card have been seized by the police.
The police brought the arrested persons to the District Police Complex, Kathmandu and started further investigation. Nepal Premier League was completed on Saturday.
