Kathmandu Metropolitan City has declared a public holiday on Monday due to the death of former mayor PL Singh.

He worked as an assistant of the iron man Ganeshman Singh for a long time and was elected the mayor of Kathmandu from the Nepali Congress in 049. 

Metropolitan Municipality has given a public holiday on Monday in appreciation of Singh's contribution during his stay in the Metropolitan Municipality and being active in social service. 

Apart from essential services, the Metropolitan Corporation and its subordinate offices will be on mourning leave. 

88-year-old Singh died last night in Chaksibari.
