After the completion of box culvert construction on Tukucha river in Kamaladi, Kathmandu, vehicles have started plying in that section from today. Keshav Kumar Sharma, Secretary of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport inaugurated the said culvert.
Ramhari Pokharel, director general of the road department said that because it is a busy and important place, the road department has worked on the place with speed.
The Road Division Office, Kathmandu, awarded the contract to DG Prakash Construction for the construction of the said culvert on October 18, 2018 for 49 lakh 63 thousand rupees. But soon after the contract, incessant rain, festivals And the flood had hampered the work. According to the head of Kathmandu Division, Narayanadatta Bhandari, the work was started on November 2nd and was completed on November 17th, after the work could not be completed due to floods.
The archeology department also showed interest saying that the culvert built during the Ranan period could be of archaeological importance. Because of this, the process of obtaining approval from the department also caused some delay in the construction work. But on 1st of Katik, after the archeology department also agreed to the construction of the culvert, the construction took off. Division Chief Bhandari said that the work was completed within 46 days of the construction.
Last July 25, the road was damaged in Kamaladi due to incessant rain. After that, traffic was stopped in that section.
