On the occasion of World Water Day, Siddhartha Bank has organized a morning walk (walkathon) called ‘Walk for Water, Walk for Life’. Continuing the walkathon program launched last year on the occasion of World Water Day, the bank has organized the program this year as well.
World Water Day, celebrated on March 22 every year, aims to highlight the importance of clean water and spread awareness globally for the sustainable management of water resources. The 2026 theme, ‘Water and Gender’, emphasizes the need to ensure equal participation and rights in access to and management of water to promote safe water, sanitation and gender equality. In solidarity with this global theme, Siddhartha Bank has also organized the walkathon program with the aim of ensuring access to safe water and sanitation as well as spreading the message of promoting gender equality.
With the aim of ensuring access to safe drinking water for the general public, the bank has announced that it plans to install 9 water purifier systems in public places across the country and conduct a cleanliness campaign around water sources during the current fiscal year on the occasion of World Water Day. Through this initiative, the bank aims to contribute to the promotion of public health by providing clean and safe drinking water to the general public and strengthen the inclusive approach emphasized by the slogan 'Water and Gender'.
In the program, the bank organized a 5-kilometer morning walk (walkathon) from Naxal Narayanchaur via Hattisar, Putalisadak, Bagbazar, Ratnapark, Jamal, Durbarmarg, Gairidhara and back to Naxal with placards reflecting the importance of water use, sanitation and gender equality. The bank had invited the general public to participate in the walkathon through social media. More than 697 people participated in this event, including 264 women and 433 men.
