The 'i Jatra' program, organized with financial support provided under the social responsibility of Worldlink Communications and in collaboration with Engineers Without Borders, was held at Nepal National Secondary School in Simara.
'i Jatra' is an exhibition and sales fair organized with the aim of putting into practice the skills learned by students under the iLab project. Students presented creative products and services such as technology materials, handicrafts, food dishes, sports activities through more than 15 stalls at the program.
The students had taken iLab training about six months ago. 'i Jatra' was organized based on continuous practice after the training, guidance from teachers, and group work. For the past two years, the iLab program has been operating in Lalitpur, Darchula, Syangja, and Simara under the social responsibility of Worldlink Communications. 'i Jatra' has been held in Lalitpur and Darchula before, and this time it was held in Simara. At the program, Worldlink's CSR Director Anupa Bhandari Jalan, citing the situation where a large number of youth are leaving the country for foreign employment every day, pointed out the need to create opportunities within the country through skills, innovation and entrepreneurship. She said that it is the need of the hour to transform students into practical skills rather than limiting them to book knowledge. Bhandari Jalan mentioned that local governments and stakeholders should be managed in the promotion, marketing and commercialization of students' products.
Although Worldlink has been expanding internet services across the country for 31 years, in recent years it has been running programs such as education, health, environmental protection, mental health awareness, online classes in remote areas, solar energy connection and safe internet campaign under social responsibility.
