Huawei has been active in the development of Nepal's telecommunications sector for two decades. Huawei has been playing a key role in collaborating with Nepal's telecom companies to expand services from 2G, 3G to 4G in this sector.

Huawei has made significant contributions in the fields of data centers, ICT infrastructure, network construction, and smartphones as well as consumer electronics. Along with infrastructure development, Huawei has given special priority to youth talent development. Recognizing skilled manpower as the cornerstone of Nepal's digital future, the company has been taking various initiatives to develop skilled ICT talent that aligns with national digital priorities.

Under the same program, Huawei Nepal launched the 'Seeds for the Future' program in Nepal in 2019. This program was launched under Huawei's global corporate social responsibility. The objective of which is to develop young ICT talent, promote digital innovation, and prepare future technology leaders.

Since the launch of the program, 49 Nepali students have participated in international cultural and technical exchange programs conducted physically and virtually in China, Thailand, and Singapore and received training. In addition, more than 170 students have benefited from local training and digital skills development programs conducted in Nepal. Globally, this program, which started in Thailand in 2008, has benefited more than 19,000 students from more than 140 countries.

Under this program, five outstanding Nepali students were selected for the ‘Seeds for the Future’ program in 2025. In which more than 65 students from more than 10 countries of the world participated. By joining the program, the students participated in practical ICT training related to 5G, AI and cloud computing and gained first-hand experience about emerging technologies in the digital economy.

The participants also studied Huawei’s smart PV solutions. Where information was also provided on how the combination of solar energy, energy management is making sustainable cities and industrial operations possible. Students also learned about how AI is being incorporated into systemic governance processes through the Smart Governance Model, promoting efficiency and citizen-centric services.

Similarly, students learned about drone technology and automated systems and shared their experiences on their practical applications in agriculture, disaster management, and public services. InnoX Academy provided detailed information about startups by observing China's 'innovation ecosystem'.

The program included discussions with world-renowned business people to help develop innovation and leadership skills. Students visited innovation centers in various cities in China and experienced the development of technology firsthand. The program provided students with technical experience, as well as participants with the opportunity to expand contacts, exchange ideas, and build cross-cultural friendships with colleagues from around the world.

Huawei Nepal has been implementing the ‘Seeds for the Future’ program in collaboration with renowned universities, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and UNESCO. This has ensured the program’s alignment with the national youth empowerment and digital development policy.
