More than 5,000 people have visited the Rotary Haat Bazaar, organized for the first time in Nepal under the initiative of the Rotary President's Action Group 2025-26.

The Haat Bazaar, which was inaugurated on Saturday and Sunday with Panchakanya Puja, Dhime Baja and Swasti Vachan, showcased and sold local products, handicrafts, food items, fashion items and creative items.

The program included activities such as Newari food, handicrafts, art and music, sports, magic show, open mic, painting and elocution competitions.

There was significant participation of youth through Interact and Rotaract. Organizers say that this program, which has active participation of women entrepreneurs in particular, has contributed to small entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.

According to Nirmal Dhakal, President and Program Coordinator of Rotary Club of Matrubhumi Baluwatar, the Haat Bazaar is a successful effort to bring community, culture and entrepreneurship together on one platform.

President of Rotary Club of Kathmandu, Rajendra Gautam, said that this program has further strengthened the positive image of Rotary. The market, organized in collaboration with various Rotary clubs, was open to the public.

The organizers have said that they plan to expand such programs outside the valley in the coming days.
