Nepal Chamber of Commerce honored Gopal Prasad Bhattarai, Branch Officer of Customs Department on the occasion of 73rd International Customs Day. On Wednesday, the Chamber honored Branch Officer Bhattarai for his excellent service in the Customs Department in a program held at the Chamber Building in Jamal, Kathmandu.

 

Chamber President Kamlesh Kumar Aggarwal honored Branch Officer Bhattarai with certificate and Finance Secretary Ram Prasad Ghimire along with Dosalla. According to the Chamber of Commerce, Bhattarai was honored on the occasion of the 73rd International Customs Day for his excellent service in the Customs Department.

Chamber president Kamlesh Kumar Agarwal said that branch officer Bhattarai was honored based on the recommendations of the customs department.

The Chamber of Commerce has been honoring the employees who have been doing excellent service in the customs administration every year on the occasion of the Customs Day. In the honoring program, the president of the chamber, Kamlesh Kumar Aggarwal, said that trade should be facilitated through the reform of the customs administration.

He insisted on improving the customs administration and controlling the smuggling at the border. President Agarwal said that according to the evaluation method set by the World Customs Organization, the reference value should be abolished in customs and the transaction value should be recognized. Chairman Agarwal said that after reviewing the study on all types of harmonic codes, a harmonic code of 10 digits should be maintained.

The current president of the chamber, Rajendra Malla, emphasized that the customs administration should be made technology-friendly. He said that the illegal trade through the border should be controlled. Deepak Malhotra, senior vice president of the Chamber of Commerce, said that there is a problem when the customs assessment is more than the actual value. By canceling the reference value in customs, the transaction value is recognized  Senior Vice President Malhotra said that revenue collection can be increased if given.

Finance Secretary Ghimire said that the government and the private sector should work together to improve the economy, so the policy problems will be eased. Ghimire said that since the government has introduced various ordinances to end the complications seen in the financial sector, the morale of the private sector should be boosted.
