E-loaders, motorcycles, bicycles, and various goods worth a total of NPR 2,139,655, which were being smuggled into Nepal from India by evading customs, were seized on Friday.
A mobile team deployed from the Border Security Post at Alau, Birgunj Metropolitan City–17, seized eight cartons of vitamin medicine worth NPR 1,275,000 that were being transported in an e-loader with registration number Province 2–03–001 S 6097, according to the Armed Police Force Nepal No. 13 Battalion Headquarters, Parsa. In the same operation, grocery items worth NPR 31,915 being transported on a motorcycle with registration number Na 26 Pa 2018 were also taken into custody.
The police stated that the seized e-loader is valued at NPR 400,000 and the motorcycle at NPR 200,000. Including the vehicles, goods worth a total of NPR 1,906,915 were seized in this operation. All the goods have been handed over to the Birgunj Customs Office.
Also on Friday, during an inspection at the main customs gate at Birgunj–16, various vehicles were found transporting unbilled goods of different brands, including clothing, stationery, and harmoniums, worth NPR 145,400 from India. These goods were seized and sent to the customs office.
Similarly, a team deployed from BOP Amarpatti at Jhauwaguthi, Bindabasini Rural Municipality–3, seized motor parts, clothing, and grocery items worth NPR 47,200, as well as bicycles worth NPR 8,000, totaling NPR 55,200, which were being transported on four bicycles.
Likewise, a team deployed from BOP Bhiswa at Bhiswa, Chipaharmai Rural Municipality–5, seized cosmetics and grocery items worth NPR 32,140 and handed them over to the Birgunj Customs Office for necessary action, according to Armed Police Force Parsa spokesperson DSP Mohanraj Niraula.
