Yuvraj Pal, a tax officer at the Inland Revenue Office in Lahan, Siraha, has been caught red-handed with a bribe of 500,000 rupees. A team from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, Bardibas, arrested Pal with the 500,000 rupee bribe.

According to Ram Bahadur Kurumbang, head of the Commission's Bardibas office, Pal was arrested from the office itself shortly after receiving the bribe, and the necessary legal procedures, including preparing the seizure report, are underway.

According to a source at the Commission, during the full tax audit of Siraha Super Market in Golbazar for the fiscal year 2078/79, Officer Pal had demanded a bribe. Pal told the supermarket's representatives that he needed to settle matters with higher-ranking tax officer Prakash Rai and others.

During the audit, the office initially stated that the supermarket would have to pay up to 20 million rupees in taxes, fines, and other charges. However, after some time, staff said the tax liability could increase by an additional 3 to 3.5 million rupees.

In this context, Tax Officer Pal told the supermarket's representatives that all problems could be resolved, but for that, a bribe of 1.2 million rupees would be required. However, after the representatives explained the company's weak financial situation, bargaining took place and the amount was settled at 500,000 rupees.
