On Wednesday at midnight in Saptari, 33 quintals and 32 kilograms of marijuana being transported towards India via Hanumannagar–Rampura Malhaniya were seized from three vehicles.
Based on special information, police seized the marijuana along with two pickup trucks and a Scorpio jeep from Banarjhulla in Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality–5. The Indian border is only 5 to 7 kilometers away from there.
According to Saptari Police Spokesperson DSP Hemraj Ghimire, police seized 33 quintals, 32 kilograms, and 460 grams (excluding the weight of the sacks) of marijuana at around 1 a.m. He stated that 48 sacks of marijuana were recovered from pickup number Pr.1–04–001 Ch 1507, 33 sacks from pickup number Ba.Pr.01–029Ch 9586, and 19 sacks from Scorpio number Ba.Pr.01–025Ch 0436.
Including the weight of the sacks, 16 quintals, 68 kilograms, and 110 grams of marijuana were seized from pickup number 1507; 11 quintals, 70 kilograms, and 710 grams from pickup number 9586; and 5 quintals, 23 kilograms, and 640 grams from Scorpio number 0436. DSP Ghimire stated that the drivers of all three vehicles are absconding.
