Farmers have become angry after the dairy run by the Ramnagar Small Farmers Agricultural Cooperative Society in Balan Bihul Rural Municipality-5 of Saptari did not buy milk.

On Saturday, they protested by pouring milk in front of the dairy run by the cooperative. 'I have bought 3 cows and a buffalo by collecting 200,000 rupees from the cooperative,' said local Mahendra Yadav, 'I have been selling milk to pay off my debts and running my family's daily life, but since yesterday the organization has been refusing to buy milk.'

He said that they were angry when they did not buy milk on Saturday even after requesting it many times on Friday. ‘If the organization does not sell milk, it will be difficult for us to run our families and repay our debts,’ he said, ‘Where will we go to sell 3-400 liters of milk daily?’

Ram Babu Yadav, the operator of the cooperative-run milk collection and processing (Kisan Dairy), said that the milk could not be purchased because the previous operator Rajkumar Yadav did not hand over the shares.

An agreement was reached with Ram Babu to operate the dairy as per the decision of the cooperative’s sub-committee on Ashad 22. Rajkumar, who was the operator before that, said that Chairman Ram Chandra Yadav arbitrarily made him the operator without doing any accounting for a year. ‘I have been collecting and managing milk for 10-12 years,’ he said, ‘I am currently at a loss of 3 lakhs but no inquiry has been made of me.’

Chairman of the organization Ram Chandra Yadav said that the responsibility was assigned through a tender after completing the procedures and procedures as per the law. ‘I did not act arbitrarily. He (Rajkumar) is making false allegations,' he said, 'The issue of buying milk from farmers is currently being discussed with the ward chairperson. It will be resolved.'
