The fourth Rath Yatra of the famous Shaktipeeth Shri Gahwamai Temple in Birgunj concluded on Thursday.
The Rath Yatra, which started from the temple premises after special prayers in the morning, passed through Ghantaghar, Railway Road Inner Bypass, Chhapakaiya, Main Road, Hospital Road, Makalu Chowk, Adarsh Nagar, Ghadi Arwa and ended at Maisthan Temple.
Devotees from children to senior citizens had gathered in the temple premises since morning to participate in the Rath Yatra. Although it rained before the Rath Yatra started, it did not affect the enthusiasm of the devotees.
According to the organizers, after the Rath Yatra in the morning, Gahwamai special Pooja was conducted in the afternoon. Kanhaiyalal Keshari, Secretary of the Gahwamai Temple Steering Committee, said that after the main havan and Maha Aarti are organized in the evening, prasad will be distributed to the devotees.
The organizers believe that the Gahwamai Rath Yatra, established as the main religious and cultural festival of Birgunj, has been making a significant contribution to religious harmony, social unity and the preservation of cultural traditions.
Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Traffic Police had made special security arrangements to make the Rath Yatra organized and safe. The security agencies had also deployed plainclothes security personnel along the Rath Yatra route and increased surveillance.
