More than 500 young people have participated in a large-scale job fair organized in Birgunj on Sunday. More than 25 companies and organizations participated in the fair, which was jointly organized by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Federation Madhesh Province and Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the support of the International Labor Organization.

The fair organized at Hotel Bishwa was inaugurated by Kanish Kumar Patel, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Tourism of Madhesh Province. Minister Patel said that such job fairs would be an effective medium to connect unemployed youth with employment, utilize their skills and abilities, and strengthen cooperation with the private sector. He stated that the government has prioritized employment promotion, entrepreneurship development, and partnership with the private sector and pledged to provide necessary support.

Vice President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Dilsunder Shrestha said that such programs that establish direct contact between youth seeking employment and employers would make a significant contribution to skilled human resource management. He said that coordination among all stakeholders was necessary to make the role of the private sector more effective in job creation.

Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Hari Prasad Gautam said that the job fair is not limited to meeting between employers and job seekers, but has become an effective bridge between industry and business and skilled manpower. He was of the opinion that such programs would be useful in producing and managing skilled manpower as per the needs of the industry and labor market.

Job fair coordinator Anup Agrawal said that the fair was organized with the objective of establishing easy contact between employers and job seekers. He informed that such programs would be conducted more extensively and effectively in the coming days.

More than 25 companies and organizations participating in the fair had collected applications for their vacant positions and had started the process of preliminary interviews and selection of qualified manpower. According to the organizer, more than 500 young people who participated applied to various companies according to their qualifications, experience and interests and had the opportunity to interact directly with employers.

Representatives from Birgunj Metropolitan City, Nepali Youth Entrepreneurs Forum (Birgunj Chapter), HR Society, ILO, Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry and various private sector participated in the program. The program was presided over by Hari Prasad Gautam, President of Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, while Senior Vice President Madhav Rajpal delivered the vote of thanks.
