Dozer campaign resumes in Birgunj The campaign to use dozers on houses and structures within the road boundaries on the main road area of Birgunj, which was halted due to local obstruction, resumed on Monday morning.
The campaign to use dozers on houses and structures within the road boundary on the main road in Birgunj, which was stopped after locals obstructed it, resumed on Monday morning.
The Road Division Office, Hetauda, had started a campaign to remove structures encroaching on the road boundary on the main road in Birgunj along the Tribhuvan Highway from around 1 pm on Friday. After removing structures up to the agricultural implement factory, the campaign was stopped at around 5 pm when locals in the Bahuari area obstructed the operation of the dozers.
The locals had taken a stand that the road expansion work was being carried out without the necessary coordination with the Birgunj Metropolitan City and that discussions were ongoing between the concerned bodies on this issue, so they would not allow the dozers to be used immediately.
However, the work was resumed from 6:30 am on Monday, informed Durga Prasad, an engineer at the Division Office, Hetauda and the focal person designated for Birgunj. Three dozers have been used since the morning. He said that the campaign is planned to start from the northern part of the metropolis and gradually expand southwards to the Nepal-India border area.
