A detainee who escaped from the Badhniyar police station in Parsa with handcuffs has turned himself in the next day.

Merajul Dewan alias Lalbabu, 28, a resident of Parsagadhi Municipality-4, Parshurampur, had escaped from the Badhniyar police station on Sunday evening. He turned himself in at the Division Forest Office, Parsa on Monday evening.

According to Parsa Police Spokesperson DSP Raju Karki, Merajul, who was arrested on charges of timber smuggling, had eluded the police while having dinner around 7-8 pm on Sunday evening.  After escaping, he stayed at his own house all night and turned himself in on Monday.  While arresting two other people with him, he managed to escape by opening the chain gate of the Badhniyar police station.  He was taken into custody as Merajul had three cases related to timber smuggling against him at the Sub-Division Forest Office, Sabiya.
