A 15-year-old girl from Motihari, Bihar, India, who had been held hostage for about three months, was rescued from a house in Ramgarhwa, Birgunj Metropolitan City-24, Parsa on Monday morning.

The girl was rescued in coordination with the Birgunj branch of the Nepal Birgunj branch, local residents, and the Women and Children Service Branch of the Parsa Police.

According to Manu Rana, head of the Birgunj branch of the Nepal Birgunj, the girl mysteriously disappeared from Motihari on April 2. After some time, her parents received information that she was in Birgunj, and on Sunday, they applied for her rescue in Nepal through the Indian organization 'Swachh Raxaul'. 'Based on the same information, we were able to find the girl safely after searching three suspicious houses in Ramgarhwa in coordination with the Parsa police,' said Rana.

According to the girl, a 23-year-old youth named Chandan Kumar from Motihari had abducted the girl while she was returning home from school by giving her an anesthetic. It has been revealed that she was then taken to a temple, forced into marriage and brought to Nepal.

Investigation has revealed that the young man kept the girl in Janakpur for about one and a half months and then brought her to Birgunj and held her hostage in a room. The girl, who was still in captivity, had called her father for the first time on June 26 and informed him that she was in Nepal. After that, her parents came to Nepal.

Police have stated that the young man allegedly involved in the incident is absconding. The rescued girl is currently under the protection of her relatives in Nepal, and preparations are underway to hand her over to her parents after completing the necessary legal procedures.
