In the fiscal year 083-084, the Madhesh Provincial Government has allocated Rs 5.95 billion for the health sector. After infrastructure development, the Madhesh Provincial Government has given the highest priority to health.

The Madhesh Provincial Government, with the slogan 'My Health, My Responsibility', has decided to establish Citizen Health Service Centers in all wards of the province and purchase health equipment in collaboration with the local level.  To end the compulsion of the citizens of Madhesh Province to go elsewhere for specialized treatment, the provincial government has also adopted a policy of upgrading the Provincial Hospital Janakpur into a well-equipped teaching hospital with treatment services for heart, kidney and cancer diseases.

In order to make the treatment of snakebite, which is the main health problem in Terai-Madhesh, accessible to all, budget has been allocated to expand the snakebite treatment center with anti-snake venom in the basic health center.  To bring the most deprived, Dalit and marginalized communities to access quality health services, the Madhesh Provincial Government is going to implement a full health insurance coverage campaign in cost sharing with the local level by bearing their health insurance premiums.

To reduce maternal and infant mortality rates, the Madhesh Provincial Government will launch the Madhesh Poshan Mission-083 to distribute nutrition packs to pregnant mothers targeting the period from conception to the age of two and to make the Chief Minister's Poshan Koseli more effective. The school lunch program will be made mandatory from farm to plate by linking the midday meal program with local agricultural products. For that, the Madhesh Provincial Government has a policy of establishing a public-private partnership to establish one municipality, one nutrition production center.

To reduce the increasing drug abuse and mental health problems, a yoga and meditation campaign will be launched in schools and public places. The Madhesh Provincial Government has formulated a strategy to expand telemedicine services, prioritizing accessible and specialized health services.
