The district convention of the National Independent Party Sarlahi has been postponed indefinitely. The election committee has stated that the convention had to be postponed due to procedural errors in the voter list and other matters. Workers from across the district gathered at the Saraswati Party Palace in Hariban, the venue of the convention, throughout the day on Sunday.
The necessary documents for the municipal convention held in the district were incomplete, the details of the elected representatives were yet to be entered on the central digital portal, and technical errors were found in some processes as per the approved procedure, making it impossible to proceed with the election immediately, according to a statement issued by the coordinator of the election district committee, Jayaprakash Mahato.
After the news of the convention being postponed, the workers present at the program had expressed their anger since morning. There was a lot of commotion and arguments at the program venue, saying that they should be present in the scorching heat and that it would be postponed at the last minute. However, clashes were prevented as the security personnel kept the situation under control.
The current president Saroj Baniya, Krishnanandan Yadav and others have announced their candidacies for the district president.
