Lahan Municipality has provided pucca houses to 16 Dalit squatter families on Wednesday. The municipality handed over pucca houses built by the municipality to 16 Dalit squatter families of Betaha village, Lahan-21 on Wednesday.
Lahan Municipality has stated that the Musahar, Ram and other communities are considered extremely poor in terms of getting houses. They were previously living in thatched houses. These houses, built with the joint investment of the municipality and Habitat for Humanity Nepal, have 2 living rooms and a kitchen. The houses are covered with zinc on the top and plastered using bamboo on the bottom.
According to the mayor of the municipality, Mahesh Prasad Chaudhary, the lifespan of these houses will be more than 30 years. The municipality had handed over similar houses to 20 Dalit squatter families of Lahan-13 a few days ago and 24 Dalit squatter families of Lahan-22 on Tuesday alone.
