Dalit squatter families of Lahan Municipality-22 Jahadi Gamhariya have received concrete houses. The municipality handed over concrete houses to 24 Dalit squatter families here on Tuesday.
The Dalit families including Musahar and Ram, who are considered extremely poor, are among those who will receive houses. They had been living in thatched houses. The municipality has built them houses on the same land under the Safe Housing Program for the Poor.
These houses, built with the joint investment of the municipality and Habitat for Humanity Nepal, have 2 living rooms and a kitchen. The house has been plastered using bamboo and plastered using zinc.
The municipality has invested a total of Rs 8,285,515 and Rs 2,035 by Habitat for Humanity Nepal in the construction of these houses, along with Rs 2,571,459 in labor from the beneficiaries and technical support from the Bhawani Integrated Development Center, according to the municipality.
According to the municipality, the life of these houses will be more than 30 years. The municipality had just handed over similar houses to 20 Dalit squatter families in Lahan 13 a few days ago. The municipality is also building such houses in other places.
