The Madhesh Provincial Government has brought a policy and program for the fiscal year 083/084, prioritizing agriculture, industry, and tourism. Provincial Chief Surendra Lav Karna presented the policy and program in the provincial assembly meeting on Friday.

Along with agriculture, industry, and tourism, the Madhesh Provincial Government is going to prioritize plans and programs in the fields of education, health, and physical infrastructure to see changes. The policy and program includes upgrading and organizing the provincial hospital with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities for patients who go out for treatment in Madhesh Province.

‘To eliminate the dependency seen in the education and health sectors, educational institutions and government hospitals in Madhesh Province will be made modern and infrastructure-friendly,’ said Province Chief Karna while reciting the policy and program. ‘A vigorous literacy campaign will be launched under the policy of ‘Send your child to school, light a lamp for literacy.’

Under the policy of ‘Made in Madhesh: Prosperous Province,’ the Madhesh Province government has announced that it will increase agricultural production and productivity, reduce the import of agricultural products, and become self-reliant in rice, wheat, corn, millet, oilseeds, and pulses. The Madhesh Province government has planned to provide 100 percent subsidy on electricity used in irrigation. ‘Grant money will be deposited directly into the bank accounts of farmers to become self-reliant in agriculture,’ the policy and program read out by the provincial chief states, ‘Marketing arrangements for vegetables, fruits and dairy products will be made immediately through local levels and cooperatives.’

The Madhesh provincial government, which has introduced a policy to honor employers who provide employment to 1,000 people, has stated that it will make easy and simple legal arrangements for establishing industries in the province. The Madhesh provincial government has a policy to promote digital markets targeting women and youth.

The Madhesh provincial government has adopted a policy to discourage piecemeal plans and increase investment in large and multi-year plans in the coming year. The policy and program states, ‘The provincial government will allocate budget for energy, irrigation, drinking water and safe housing after planning and studying.’ Similarly, police posts in Madhesh province will be converted into smart posts and the upgrading of police posts awaiting maintenance will be prioritized.

Similarly, it has also adopted a policy of establishing a museum that reflects ancient art, culture and clothing.

The Madhesh Provincial Government has included a special awareness program in its policy and program to end child marriage and dowry.
