Locals have blocked the BP Highway in Bardibas, Mahottari. They have been blocking the highway since Monday evening after taking control of forest officials who had come to clear the forest area.

Vehicles and passengers going to and from Kathmandu have been stranded after locals blocked the highway.

Guru Prasad Timsina, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the Area Police Office, Bardibas, said that locals took control of a forest patrol team returning from a regular patrol in Bardibas, Mahottari. Ajay Mishra, Chief of the Division Forest Office, Mahottari, said that locals took control of a forest patrol team in Kalapani under the Bardibas-Kathmandu BP Highway and blocked the highway.

Mishra said that locals took control of a forest employee near Panas Hotel and blocked the Ragmarg. In the evening, due to wind and heavy rain, coordination was delayed and efforts are being made to open the highway, said Shyam Sarumgar, Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Mahottari.
