Ward Chairman Jitendra Kumar Yadav of Rajgadh Rural Municipality-2 in Saptari, accused in the assault incident, has gone missing after an arrest warrant was issued. An arrest warrant was issued against 5 people including Ward Chairman Yadav on Monday.

Ward Chairman Yadav went missing on Tuesday after appointing ward member Sumitradevi Khang as acting ward chairman. Ward Secretary Ram Kumar Yadav confirmed that the ward chairman had appointed Khang as acting ward chairman 4 days ago.

Rural Municipality Chairman Om Prakash Mandal said that he has not spoken to Ward Chairman Yadav since he met him 3 days ago. He said, ‘I have general information about the cases against him.’

District Police Office spokesperson DSP Dambar Bahadur Puri said that investigations are underway into the cases.

On 21 Kartik 2081, when Ward Chairman Yadav and others were building a house on public land in Banainiya of the same ward, local Lalan Kumar Singh and others protested. Angered, Ward Chairman Yadav, Shivan Khang, Tunu Khang, Pashupati Khang and Shriram Khang of the same place attacked Singh with a rod. Singh's hand was broken due to the beating. He had filed a complaint with the District Police Office on 25 Kartik for the crime of beating and mutilation. However, the police refused to accept his complaint.

Even when Singh sent a complaint to the police through the District Government Attorney's Office on 9 Magh 2081, the police had been reluctant to complete the legal process including identification. Singh, who reached the Rajbiraj bench of the Janakpur High Court on 5 Chaitra 2081, filed a writ of mandamus. During the hearing of the writ petition, a joint bench of judges Purna Prasad Rajbanshi and Krishna Prasad Subedi issued a writ in the name of the District Police Office on 14 Jestha 2082 (June 14, 2005) in accordance with Section 8(1) of the Administration of Justice Act, 2073.
