Madhesh Province Chief Minister Krishna Prasad Yadav on Friday received a vote of confidence from the Congress, UML and NCP after the ruling coalition partners Janmat Party and JSP Nepal withdrew their support.
Chief Minister Yadav proposed a vote of confidence in the provincial assembly meeting held on Friday, and 62 votes were cast in favor and 36 against. The Congress, UML and NCP gave the vote of confidence to Chief Minister Yadav.
The Janmat Party withdrew its support on April 20. There is a legal provision that a vote of confidence must be taken within 30 days of the withdrawal of support by a ruling party. Madhesh Chief Minister Yadav had brought UML into the government on Thursday night, removing Janmat and JSP Nepal, the previous ruling partners in the provincial government.
Chief Minister Yadav has claimed that he brought UML into the government after the ruling party itself tried to topple his government.
