The health post in Lahan Municipality-16, Taregna, was more crowded on Monday than other days. There were especially many women. They came here to get their cervix checked.

Lahan Cancer Care Center, with the support of Lahan Municipality, had organized a cervical check-up camp at the health post. This is not the first time such a camp has been organized here, cervical check-up camps have been running in all 24 wards of the municipality for a year.

Mayor Mahesh Prasad Chaudhary said that during this period, nearly 600 women had their cervix checked throughout the municipality. He said that although cervical check-up is very necessary, there is a tendency to not get it done and that the camp is being organized in the villages with the aim of ending this.

'Uterine screening is very necessary, but in our society, women still feel uncomfortable about it,' said Mayor Chaudhary, 'That is why we have gone to the villages and organized a camp with the aim of providing health awareness to women along with the screening.'

During the camp, although no cancer patients were found, patients with infections and cysts in the uterus were found, said Dr. Geeta Yadav. She informed that the patients found in the camp are given free medicines and those who need further treatment are given at the Cancer Care Center in Lahan.
