Speakers participating in the 35th annual foundation day of the Nepal Agricultural Research Council have expressed concern over the shortage of manpower in the Agricultural Research Directorate, Parwanipur. The council celebrated its foundation day on Friday with the slogan 'Agricultural Research and Innovation for Entrepreneurship and Employment'. Former director of the directorate, Anisur Rahman Ansari, expressed concern over the success of research and innovation with limited manpower. He said that he felt the shortage of manpower even when he was the head and had 5 times more manpower than the current one. Another speaker, former employee Harihar Prasad, said that since the main responsibility of the directorate is research, it is not possible with the current limited manpower. Director of the directorate, Dr. BP Yadav, said that although the directorate currently has 76 posts, 20 employees are filling them. He said that out of 25 scientist posts, 3 and 18 technical officer posts, 3 are available.
Similarly, there are 6/6 posts of technical level 4 and technical level 5 employees, but both are vacant . The other posts are non-technical posts .
Dr. Yadav claims that the directorate has achieved more than the target even with limited manpower . He said that this year, the target of producing 58 tons of rice for research and seed purposes was 60 tons. He said that the target of producing 28 tons of wheat was 32 tons, and the target of producing 600 kg of lentils was 1,600 kg. He said that the target of producing 7 million fish fry was 10 million. He said that the target of producing 7 million fish fry was 10 million. He informed that the buffalo and goat research program has also been started in the directorate premises from this year. "Despite limited manpower, we are trying our best to conduct research and innovation," he said. "We do not have a work schedule, we are always busy with work even outside office hours." Tree plantation was also done on the said occasion in the directorate premises.
