Locals have protested against the government's decision to close the small customs office in Bariyarpatti, a market on the Nepal-India border, Siraha. On Thursday, locals blocked the postal highway in Bariyarpatti.

The movement of vehicles on this highway has come to a standstill due to the agitation of local residents and traders. The government had decided to close the small customs office in Bariyarpatti by publishing a notification in the gazette on 21 Baisakh 2083.

Expressing dissatisfaction with this decision, locals have demanded that the small customs office in Bariyarpatti be permanently reopened. Locals say that the closure of this customs office will directly affect trade, revenue collection and local economic activities in the border area.
