A five-year-old boy has died after drowning in a pond in Gangapipara, Durga Bhagwati Rural Municipality-1, the district.
Krish Sah, the five-year-old son of Gaurishankar Sah Kalwar of Gangapipara, drowned while bathing in the pond on Sunday, the District Police Office, Gaur, has said.
According to the police, Krish went missing after drowning in the pond at Brahmasthan, about a kilometer away from his home, at around 6 pm. The locals then informed the police. A joint team of locals, including the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force, was deployed in search of the boy.
The team rescued the boy from the pond and took him to the local Bagmati Central Hospital, Gangapipara, for treatment, where the doctor declared him dead, said DSP Bishnu Pradeep Basyal of the District Police. A post-mortem of the boy's body has been conducted at the Provincial Hospital, Gaur.
