Kiran Kumar Jayaswal of Rupani Rural Municipality-1 in Saptari, who was summoned for questioning, was taken into custody by the police on Wednesday. 

The Rupani Area Police Office had handed over a letter with challan number 389 on Tuesday and requested Jayaswal to appear at the District Police Office. Jayaswal, who reached the District Police Office on Wednesday afternoon, was taken into custody. 

District Police Office spokesperson DSP Dambar Bahadur Puri said that Jayaswal was taken into custody based on a complaint under electronic transactions. However, by the afternoon, he had also responded that Jayaswal was called only for questioning.

'The investigation has confirmed that Jayaswal has a social media account,' DSP Puri said, 'We have extended Jayaswal's remand for further investigation by 5 days as per Section 47 of the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063.' Rupani Rural Municipality Chairman Dinesh Kumar Yadav has filed a complaint under electronic transactions against Jayaswal.
