The District Police Office, Rautahat, has arrested an Indian citizen with a pistol on Monday.
During a check-up near Maa Intabhatta in Bankul, Boudhimai Municipality-7 of the district, 20-year-old Suryakumar Das of Mauwah Gram Panchayat Chanaraman Tol in East Champaran, India, was arrested with a pistol, said DSP Bishnu Pradeep Basyal of the District Police.
‘Das was arrested during a check-up after receiving information that he had entered the country with weapons from India,’ DSP Basyal said. ‘It is yet to be revealed where Das got the weapons from and where he was going to take them.’ The matter is being investigated.
The police have recovered two Indian SIM-equipped mobile phones used by Das. The pistol, which is said to have been recovered by the police, looks very old. Das is being investigated in a case of arms and ammunition, the police said.
