The Division Road Office, Hetauda, ​​which started demolishing structures within 25 meters of the road on the right and left sides of the road in Birgunj Metropolitan Area from Sunday, has demolished some structures in the Gandak area on Monday as well.

Engineer of the office, Madan Mohan Singh, informed that the structures that were not demolished in the Gandak area on Sunday were demolished on Monday. He said that dozers were used on about 1,200 houses and huts in the Gandak-Miteri Bridge area under the Tribhuvan Highway in two days. He also said that the concerned homeowners have been urged to remove the waste from the demolished structures as soon as possible.

He also said that as soon as the budget is received from the center, the Road Department will award a contract for the construction of a 6-lane road in the section from Gandak Chowk to Miteri Bridge where encroachments have been removed. 'This action has been taken in accordance with the previous Supreme Court decision and the decision of the federal government,' he said.

The District Administration Office, Parsa, issued a notice on Saturday evening directing the removal of structures within the road area from Nepal-India Miteri Bridge to Gandak Canal Chowk under the Tribhuvan Highway.

Birgunj Metropolitan City Mayor Rajeshman Singh also requested the city residents to follow the information issued by the Road Division Office, Hetauda and the security agencies through social media.  

The Supreme Court had dismissed the writ petition filed against the widening of the main road of Birgunj on Falgun 28, 2081. A joint bench of Justices Binod Sharma and Mahesh Sharma Poudel dismissed all the 5 writ petitions of the writ petitioner on Falgun 28, paving the way for the Division Road, Hetauda, ​​to widen the road by 25 meters on both sides of the Tribhuvan Highway.
