The Nepal Electricity Authority Distribution Center, Birgunj, has issued a public notice stating that electricity supply will be affected in some areas due to road expansion and maintenance work. According to the authority, the power line has to be managed as the removal and maintenance work is being carried out under the Tribhuvan Highway from the Nepal-India border to the Gandak Canal as per the standards of the national highway.

Chief Engineer of the Electricity Authority Birgunj Distribution Center, Vijay Mahato, has informed that due to the road expansion, electricity service may be irregular in the areas supplied from wards 1, 2, 5, 6, Ranighat, Jagannathpur, Srisiya, Chhapakaiya, Ghantaghar, Birtamai, Chhapakaiya, Balirampur feeders of Birgunj Metropolitan City. According to the center, electricity service may be partially disrupted until Tuesday.

Demolition of structures within 25 meters of the road has started in the Birgunj Metropolitan City area since Sunday morning. The work of removing encroached structures on the Gandak-Miteri Bridge road area under the Tribhuvan Highway has been going on since 5:30 am.

The Road Division Hetauda office started removing the structures by using about 1 dozen dozers/excavators on Sunday. A campaign to remove encroached structures has been launched under the protection of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Municipal Police.

Engineer Bhola Sah of the Road Division Office, Hetauda, ​​informed that the demolition of houses and huts built encroaching on the road has begun since Sunday morning in accordance with the previous Supreme Court verdict and the decision of the federal government. He said that there are about 1,000 to 1,200 houses and huts from Gandak Chowk to Miteri Bridge.
