After a phone conversation in which Saptari Superintendent of Police (SP) Gautam Kumar KC abused and threatened the public went viral, the Madhesh Province Police Office has formed a committee to investigate. A 5-member investigation committee has been formed under the leadership of SSP Kamal Thapa of the Madhesh Province Police Office.

According to the conversation that went viral on social media since Sunday morning, SP KC had a conversation with Prahlad Singh 'Vicky', a journalist from Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality-4. In the conversation, KC abused Mustakim Alam of Rajbiraj Municipality-3, saying, 'Bring him to the right place, otherwise... I will beat him up.' SP KC is heard in the dialogue using abusive language against Alam, threatening Singh. After the dialogue was made public, SP KC is being criticized from all sides.
Alam said that SP KC called him and threatened him when he raised his voice against injustice on social media. ‘He (SP) has conspired through others to frame me,’ he said, ‘He also called me and threatened me a few days ago.’ He also demanded that the entire incident be investigated impartially and the culprits be taken to task.
Although SP KC admitted that Singh called him at night, he said that he did not abuse or threaten him. ‘He may have tampered with the dialogue, but I did not hear him,’ he said, ‘I did not abuse or threaten him.’
