Two people died when a tree fell on a tempo (Ja 1 Dha 4850) heading towards Janakpur in Parakauli, Jaleshwor Municipality-9, during a windstorm on Saturday evening, said Shailendra Kumar Bhatta, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Mahottari.
Three others were seriously injured in the accident.
The injured have been sent to Janakpur for treatment. The police said that there were five people in the tempo, including the driver.
The deceased and the injured have not been identified, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhatta.
The Janakpur-Jaleshwor road section was blocked for some time after the accident.
The Nepal Army and police have removed the fallen tree and brought the road into operation, according to the police.
