The foundation stone for the construction of Mahobani Padam Secondary School and Library building in Pokhariya Municipality-6 of the district was laid on Tuesday.

The foundation stone of the building, which is to be constructed under the High Impact Community Development Project, was jointly laid by the Consul General of the Consulate General of India in Birgunj, Devi Sahay Meena, and the Mayor of Pokhariya Municipality, Praduman Prasad Chauhan.

Under the project, which is to be constructed with the financial assistance of 65.3 million Nepali rupees from the Government of India, a three-storey educational building, administrative building, gate and guardhouse, toilets, border wall, landscaping, drinking water and sanitation, electrification and other infrastructure will be constructed. It is also stated that facilities including classrooms, library, computer and science laboratories, canteen and kitchen will be provided.

This project will be implemented through Pokhariya Municipality. At the program, the mayor, school management committee and other stakeholders expressed gratitude for the development assistance of the Government of India.

Nepal and India have been cooperating in various fields as neighboring countries and development partners. Consul General Meena expressed his belief that such projects will reflect the continued support of the Government of India to further strengthen Nepal's development efforts.
