A police constable has been murdered in Birgunj. The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Bikash Chaurasia, a police constable working at the District Police Office, Saptari.
According to DSP Hari Bahadur Basnet, spokesperson of the District Police Office, information was received at the District Police Office at 4:40 pm on Sunday that he was seriously injured at the house of Firoz Mia in Murli, Birgunj Metropolitan City-9.
When the police team immediately reached there, Chaurasia was found seriously injured with severe injuries due to sharp weapons on various parts of his body. He was immediately taken to Narayani Hospital for treatment, where the doctors declared him dead.
The police have immediately arrested 4 people suspected of being involved in the incident. Those arrested are Santosh Sah, 26, of Rautahat, and his wife Soni Sah, 24. Similarly, Vishal Sah, 19, of Bara, and Indian citizen Kanhaiya Kumar, 19. DSP Basnet said that an investigation is underway to find out how the incident happened. Police constable Chaurasia, who lives in Parsa Kalikamai Rural Municipality-1, used to live in a tent in Murli, Birgunj. He had come to Birgunj on a 10-day leave.
