The municipality's work has come to a standstill as employees of Siraha Municipality are protesting over the failure to arrest Mayor Naveen Kumar Yadav.

The employees are protesting against the failure to arrest Mayor Yadav despite an arrest warrant being issued against him. The entire administrative service of the municipality has come to a standstill on Friday due to the employees' protest. The services of the health, agriculture, and livestock departments within the municipality, as well as the ward office, have been disrupted, affecting service recipients.

The employees allege that Mayor Yadav abused and kicked and punched 50-year-old office assistant Ram Sharan Yadav while he was about to report at 9 am on Monday. Ram Sharan, who was injured in the assault, is undergoing treatment in Kathmandu. The District Police Office, Siraha, has registered a case of indecent behavior and issued an arrest warrant against Mayor Yadav and municipal employee Rohit Mestar for their involvement in the incident. Rohit has been arrested. Branch Officer Baliram Yadav said that they were forced to continue the protest because the police did not show interest in taking Mayor Yadav under control. 'The mayor turned off his mobile phone last evening after the arrest warrant was issued, but today his phone is ringing, and we know that he is at home today,' he said. 'However, it does not appear that the police want to arrest him, so we are still protesting, on the contrary, they have threatened us.'

The employees have demanded that Mayor Yadav and others involved in the assault be arrested and legal action taken, along with free treatment for the victim employees, proper compensation be given, and an environment should be created where employees can work with self-respect. The District Police Office, Siraha, has stated that the search for Mayor Yadav is ongoing.
