Mahendra Kumar Das, Chief Engineer of Nepal Electricity Authority Kanchanpur Distribution Center, Saptari, has been arrested while accepting a bribe. He was arrested from a hotel in Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality-1, Bhardaha on Monday evening.
A team from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, Itahari, deployed on the basis of a complaint of demanding a bribe from a service recipient, took Das under control, said Roshan Aryal, Deputy Secretary, Information Officer of the Commission.
According to him, Rs 140,000 that Das took as a bribe from a service recipient has been recovered. He also informed that further investigation is underway against the arrested Das.
