Two accused have been arrested in the ‘suspicious’ death of a 14-year-old boy in the hostel of the Phuleshwor Public English Boarding School in Khadak Municipality-7, Saptari.
The arrested are Dhirendra Prasad Chaudhary, 49, of Khadak Municipality-10, and Bhola Mandal, 41, of Lahan Municipality-20, Siraha.
Chaudhary is the school’s administrator, while Mandal works as a caretaker. The District Police Office spokesperson DSP Dambar Bahadur Puri said that both the arrested have been remanded for 5 days and are being investigated for abetment to suicide. Dharmendra Kumar Sah of Lalpatti, Khadak-9, who had been living in the hostel for 7 years, was found hanging on Saturday morning on Chaitra 20.
After the incident, the school’s administrator Chaudhary and his wife Shobha, caretaker Mandal and others took Dharmendra to the hospital and informed the family and police. The boy's mother, Mamta Sah, has been claiming that her son was beaten up by the school's owner, Chaudhary's wife Shobha, who was late in reporting the incident and even the CCTV was turned off during the incident, making it 'suspicious'. However, the police have not yet taken Shobha into custody. Police have said that further investigation is underway.
