A man died after being swept away while fishing in the Bagmati River at Nunthar, Chandrapur-1, Rautahat on Tuesday.
Police have said that 40-year-old Kami Singh Syangtan of Bagmati Municipality-4, Sarlahi, drowned while fishing in the river, 150 meters north of the suspension bridge at Nunthar, Bagmati.
Syangtan, who had gone to the river to fish, drowned and disappeared. After his uncle drowned, his nephew Kanchha Lama immediately informed the police. A team led by DSP Rupa Labung from the Area Police Office Chandranigahapur, a team from the Nepali Army, Armed Forces Camp Santapur and the Area Police Office Karmaya, Sarlahi, searched for the missing Syangtan in the river.
Police have said that Syangtan's body was found floating in the Bagmati River, 100 meters north of the suspension bridge at Nunthar on Tuesday morning. The Gaur District Police has informed that the body has been sent to the Government Hospital Chandranigahapur for postmortem.
