The student protest at Hari Khetan Multiple Campus in Birgunj, which has been ongoing for a long time due to a dispute between the management and teachers, has been suspended after a three-point agreement.

The day-long protest was called off after a meeting of stakeholders held at the District Administration Office, Parsa, took a three-point decision on Sunday evening. Representatives of the agitating students, the campus management committee and professors participated in the meeting held in the presence of Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal. The meeting decided to immediately conduct the postponed exams and classes, provide treatment to the students injured during the protest by the campus administration, and discuss other demands of the students again on Monday.

Earlier, students had taken to the streets since Sunday morning to protest the postponement of the exams for grades 11 and 12. The situation became tense after the students who had reached the campus for the exam were stopped at the main gate. During the protest, the police used baton charge and took three students under control, while one student was injured.

The angry students reached Ghantaghar Chowk and blocked the road, shouting slogans. They burned tires and tried to reach the District Administration Office, Parsa. But after being stopped by security personnel, they returned to the campus and continued the protest.

During the protest, a campus bus was vandalized and trees planted on the sidewalk were broken. In addition, a young man was beaten up on charges of trying to run away from the campus chief.
