In the direct election to the House of Representatives in Bara, the deposits of 99 out of 110 candidates have been forfeited. The candidates' deposits have been forfeited after they failed to secure even 10 percent of the total votes. The deposits of the then major and Madhesi parties have also been forfeited.
The candidates whose deposits have been forfeited include UML, Congress, CPN, JSP Nepal, Janmat, Aam Janata Party, Pragatisheel Loktantrik, Shram Sanskriti, Ujjaj Nepal Party, Parivartan Nepal and other parties. The size of other parties has shrunk as most of the votes went to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) candidates.
According to the data received from the District Election Office, the deposits of 17 out of 20 candidates in Bara-1 have been forfeited. In Bara-2, 26 out of 29 candidates could not secure their deposits, while 22 out of 24 candidates in Bara-3 have been forfeited. Out of the 37 candidates contesting in Bara-4, 34 failed to secure their deposits.
