According to the ongoing vote counting of the House of Representatives elections held on Thursday, Nepali Communist Party leader and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal is in fifth place with 220 votes in Rautahat-1.

In this constituency, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) candidate Rajesh Chaudhary is leading with 706 votes. JSP's Yogendra Raya Yadav and Congress' Anil Jha are second and third with 567 and 312 votes, respectively.

UML candidate Ajay Gupta has received 288 votes. Candidates say that this order may change after the counting of ballot boxes in Gaur Municipality and other areas.

In 2079, Nepal had won from this constituency on behalf of the CPN (Unified Socialist) by getting 33,522 votes. At that time, his closest competitor was UML's Ajay Kumar Gupta. In the current election, the changing desires of the voters and the emergence of new political forces are leading to a tough competition between the old and established leaders.
