The Nepali Army conducted aerial patrols in all constituencies of Rautahat on Tuesday in view of the upcoming elections.

The army has started aerial patrols to maintain peace and security in the district. Earlier, a joint team including the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force had been patrolling on foot and on motorcycles in various parts of the district.

The army conducted aerial patrols in all four elections in the district using helicopters, informed Sreenarayandt Battalion Gaur. The army has said that it has started aerial patrols in armored vehicles on the ground and above to further strengthen the security system. The army helicopter had circled all the constituencies and landed in Garuda. It had been monitored there for some time and then flown. According to the battalion, the helicopter will conduct aerial surveillance at any time in view of the elections in the districts of Madhesh Province.

152 polling stations in Rautahat and 158 polling stations in Sarlahi have been placed on the list of highly sensitive. In view of the security challenges posed by booth-capturing, clashes and political disputes in past elections, the open border between Nepal and India, and the Gen-G movement, the polling stations have been classified by the security agencies into normal, sensitive and highly sensitive areas. These areas are under strict surveillance by security officials.
